LS-10 SBR

The Space-Based Radar (SBR) system was intended to replace a range of current systems such as the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), Joint STARS (Surveillance, Targeting, and Attack Radar System), and Rivet Joint, by satellites. This would have provided a near-global coverage and reduced the deployment time and the logistical costs. The development was commenced in the early 1990s, when the designation LS-10A was assigned to it. It was subsequently cancelled later in the decade. No primary contractor was announced.

The S-10 slot in the satellite series has since been reallocated to the XSS-10 experimental micro-satellite.
